Gov. Buni: A legacy of infrastructural development in the making, by Yusuf Ali
Moving to the second term of May 29 on good footing with a progressive agenda of continuity, consolidation and innovation, Governor Mai Mala Buni CON would surely leave a lasting legacy in infrastructural development for the people of Yobe State.
Gov. Buni has made it very clear right from the beginning that his government is that of continuity, consolidation and innovation because Yobe is one, united family in progress and development.
He completed the Damaturu Cargo International Airport, Roads, initiated 5 Ultra Modern Markets, Potiskum Trailer Park, General Hospitals, Primary Healthcare Centres, Roads, and resuscitation of moribund industries, the iconic Maternal and Newborn Complex which is the largest in Nigeria so far.
“Our government is a government of continuity, consolidation, and innovation meaning those very important projects that were not concluded are concluded. That is consolidation and I even went beyond that to add innovation using new or novel ideas and approaches to initiate new projects and solve existing problems.
“While we are focusing on the completion of all ongoing projects started by the Gaidam administration, we also introduced new programmes and new projects for the progress and development of our dear state,” the Governor said.
It is gratifying that Gov. Buni has achieved a great feat by consolidating on the achievements of his predecessor and initiating long-lasting projects for the people of Yobe State. This milestone’s pace of developmental projects would be sustained moving forward to the second term beginning May 29.
Gov. Buni is in a hurry to move Yobe State forward and leave a lasting legacy. He knows that he must leave a mark because one day he has to leave the scene and he wants to be remembered for the good things that he has done for the people of Yobe State.
The reason is that he has come to serve Yobe with passion. Buni would have stayed put at the APC headquarters as National Secretary or even National Chairman which is more powerful and influential than the seat of governor. The point is, he didn’t just hit jackpots to find himself in Government House as governor.
He was a two-term National Secretary of the APC. While serving as governor, he became the National Chairman that rebuild and reposition the APC. Buni had all the opportunity to remain at the top leadership of the party but refused, serving Yobe to the best of his ability was uppermost in his mind.
Buni has seen power even before he becomes governor. That’s why the title ‘Excellency’ doesn’t give him a big head. He is humble and simple as he used to be. And he would never belong to that kind of category of administrators that in the first four years will perform creditably and then relax if they succeed to get another four years mandate and enjoy themself.
What kind of enjoyment did he need now? When he has everything. In fact, his enjoyment is to see Yobe making progress. That is his enjoyment.
