Kano court orders re-summoning of singer Rarara over unpaid phones money

The Kano Higher Shari’ah Court, sitting at Rijiyar Zaki and presided over by Justice Halhalatul Khuza’i Zakariyya, has ordered the re-summoning of ace singer Dauda Kahutu Rarara for his non-appearance before the court.

Rarara has been charged with non-payment of phones money amounting to N10,300,000, which he collected and distributed to people from one businessman, Muhammad Ma’aji.

During the court session, the prosecution counsel, Barrister I. Imam, informed the court that the accused person did not honour the court summons, and therefore should be ordered for his arrest.

However, Imam also expressed uncertainty as to whether the writ of summons had reached the accused person.

To clarify the matter, the court asked the messenger, Isma’il Zuhudu, if he had delivered the writ of summons to Rarara.

Zuhudu assured the court that he had pasted it on the gate of Rarara’s house, as ordered by the court, because attempts to deliver it directly to him had failed.

The Judge, Justice Halhalatul Khuza’i Zakariyya, noted that this was the first time Rarara had been absent, and the court would waive the issue.

However, the court ordered the resummoning of the singer in person or through pasting the summons on his house at Zoo Road, and publishing it on media and social media platforms.
