Kano police nab suspect for murdering pregnant girlfriend

Police have arrested a man for allegedly strangling his pregnant girlfriend to death in Kano State.

The victim, a 22-year-old woman, was found unconscious on the roadside of Kano-Jos in Anadaria village and later pronounced dead in the hospital.

The suspect, Ibrahim, committed the offence in Tudun-Wada Local Government Area of the state and was apprehended alongside his accomplice, Gabriel Bila, both of Unguwar Korau Tudun-Wada Local Government Area of Kano State.

Kano Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mamman Dauda, disclosed the arrest of the suspects on Sunday, April 2, 2023.

Dauda explained that the victim had left Nassarawan Kuki to Yantomo village in Kano on Monday, March 27, when she was attacked.

“On April 2, at about 4:30 pm, we received information from a Good Samaritan that a lady was seen lying unconscious on Kano-Jos Road in Anadaria Village. On receiving the information, a team of policemen rushed to the scene and took the victim to Tiga General Hospital where she was confirmed dead by a doctor.”

“During the investigation, it was discovered that the victim left Nassarawan Kuki to Yantomo Village in Garin Babba Local Government Area of Kano on March 27, at about 6 pm. The principal suspect was arrested and he confessed to using the victim’s veil to strangle her.”

The police spokesperson added that the arrested suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of an ongoing investigation.
