No life lost as UNIBEN female hostel guts by fire
The students’ female hostel of University of Benin (UNIBEN), Ekehuan campus was on Tuesday gutted by fire, with no life lost.

The fire which started at noon destroyed some documents and properties at the university.
While the cause of the fire could not be ascertained from the authorities, an eyewitness account said it was ignited by a surge from an electric cooker, popularly known as ‘hot plate’, that one of the female students was using.
Although, the fire was put out after the arrival of the fire service.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the University, Dr. Benedicta Ehanire, declined comment.
The state fire service is also yet to comment on the incident.
