Police capture Kuje prison escapee while stealing motorcycles in Nasarawa
Operatives of the Nasarawa Police Command have arrested Salisu Buhari, one of the inmates of Kuje Correctional Centre who escaped from the facility during the July 2022 jailbreak.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday in Lafia.

Nansel said that Buhari was arrested with his friend Zubairu Ali for allegedly snatching a motorcycle in the state.
“On April 6, at about 10:00 p.m., police operatives attached to Nassarawa Division arrested the fugitive and one other for motorcycle theft.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are responsible for most motorcycle snatching and theft in Nasarawa LGA and its environs.
“Upon interrogation, Salisu Buhari confessed to having escaped from Kuje Correctional Centre when the facility was attacked last year.
“The escapee said he linked up with his crony friend after escaping from the facility and went into the criminal venture,” the spokesperson for the police added.
He said that the state Commissioner of Police Maiyaki Muhammed-Baba had ordered the case transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia, for an exhaustive investigation.
Recall that in July 2022, the Kuje Medium Security Custodial Centre in Abuja was attacked with explosives by gunmen and about 879 inmates escaped from the facility during the unfortunate attack.
Though the prison management was able to recapture some of the escaped prisoners, others still remain at large.
