Police, hunters kill kidnapper while receiving ransom in Adamawa, rescue victims

The Police in a joint operation with hunters killed a kidnapper while receiving ransom and rescued two victims in part of Toungo and Gashaka Local Government Area of Adamawa and Taraba States.

The Adamawa State Police Command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued in Yola.

He said the two victims Suleiman Abdullahi, 23 years old and Ruwa Buba 11-years-old all residents of Mayo Sumsum Village, Toungo LG were rescued unharmed.

“The outcome of these successes follow-up on collaborative strategies designed by the command to checkmate cases bordering on kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling, and unlawful possession of firearms, amongst others.

“One among the kidnappers was neutralised when they arrived at a point to receive Two Million Naira (N2,000,000) ransom demanded from the relatives of the kidnapped victims before freeing them.

“The suspected kidnappers upon arrival sighted our men around the area and engaged them in a gun duel in order to escape arrest. One (1) of them was killed while others escaped with bullet wounds”, he stated.

Nguroje stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, expressed happiness and praised DPO Toungo, his men and the hunters for the gallantry displayed.

He directs them to give hot chase to those on the run, arrest and deny them the opportunity to re-group anywhere in the state.

“The CP calls on the populace to always inform the police of the whereabouts of criminals and their hideouts, especially those with bullet wounds if seen.

He equally assured the state government and good people of Adamawa State, of the Command’s continuous effort to dislodge all criminal hideous and black spots in  Adamawa State.
