Troops eliminate 11 terrorists, recover arms in Kaduna gun duel
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that troops deployed for internal security operations in Kaduna State killed 11 terrorists in a gun battle and recovered arms and ammunition.
According to a statement by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Musa Danmadami, troops of Operation Whirl Punch, in conjunction with the Defence Headquarters Special Forces, engaged the terrorists with superior firepower during clearance operations in Kakangi and Katakaki villages on April 1, 2023.
The troops also cleared Bagoma, Rema, Bilugai, Dagara, Sabon Layi, Gagumi, Katakaki, and Randagi villages in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna State. During the clearance operations, 11 terrorists were neutralized while others fled.
The troops thoroughly searched the area and recovered two AK 47 rifles, two AK 47 magazines, 57 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, seven machetes, and six motorcycles, among other items.
The military high command has commended the troops of Operation Whirl Punch and encouraged the general public to provide credible and timely information on criminal activities.
