Yobe police felicitate with Muslims, assure of security during Sallah celebration
The Commissioner of Police Yobe State Command, CP Haruna G. Garba psc, has congratulated Muslim Ummah in the state for the successful completion of fasting in the sacred month of Ramadan and wishes to felicitate with them on the occasion of the Eid-Al Fitri Sallah festival.
This was disclosed in a press statement signed by DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) at Yobe State Command and obtained by Neptune Prime.
Abdulkarim said the CP commends the resilience and peaceful activities of citizens during the fasting period and urged them to sustain the tempo.
“The Police Command wishes to assure all the good people of Yobe State of their safety and security before, during and after the Sallah festivity as the Command is committed to deploying personnel and operational assets across the state in public and social places for a hitch-free celebration.
“The Commissioner of Police has tasked all Police tactical and strategic commanders, Divisional Police Officers in the state to ensure adequate provision of security to all worshipers in their respective areas of responsibility.
The statement also warned residents against reckless and dangerous driving and moving around with harmful weapons like sticks and cutlasses during the festive period.
“Furthermore, the Command will not tolerate any acts of reckless and dangerous driving on the part of motorists.
“Those that are in the habit of going about with dangerous weapons including sticks and cutlasses during the festive period should refrain from it.
“Unlawful gatherings at recreational centres and playing grounds will not be condoned. The Command will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anyone found wanting.
The command urged citizens to report any suspicious activities or persons within their domain to the police via 08065682446.
“Similarly, members of the public are enjoined to cooperate with security operatives and report any criminal tendencies, suspicious Movement(s), Person(s), Object(s) and Vehicle(s) to the nearest Police station or security formation.
‘If you see something, say something,’ as this may save a life.
The statement appreciated residents for their usual cooperation and wishes everyone a happy Eid Mubarak celebration while reiterating the Command’s commitment towards peaceful Sallah celebrations in the state.
