Police arrest man for beating his ex-wife to death because she is remarrying
The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 56-year-old man for beating his former wife, aged 38 years, to death when he heard she was getting married the next day.
The murder suspect, Aminu Abubakar, a resident of Lelewaji, Shagari Estate in Yola South Local Government Area, was reported to have confronted Nana Fadimatu at about 10 pm Friday night with the information that she was getting married.
Fombina Stories learned that the couple had been married for nine years with a child before they separated.
He got furious and started battering her with a hard object. She fell down unconscious and died later.
When her fiance, Mahmud Rufai, a resident of Shagari Annex, in the same local government area, got the information of the incident, he reported it to the police at Shagari Police Division.
A statement by the spokesman of Adamawa State Police Command, SP Sulaiman Nguroje, said Adamawa State Commissioner of Police Afolabi Babatola has directed a thorough investigation into the incident.
