Bandits attack Kaduna Emir’s palace, kidnap 9 of his children, others

Story from Haruna YUSUF, Abuja

Bandits have launched an assault on the palace of the Emir of Kagarko, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, located in the southern part of Kaduna State.

During the attack, they forcibly abducted nine of the traditional ruler’s children, grandchildren, and three other individuals from the town.

According to a resident who spoke to our reporter, the gunmen descended upon the area around 11:15 pm, making a beeline for the Emir’s residence.

“They seized his youngest wife, nine children, and grandchildren, but fortunately, the wife managed to escape and return home,” the resident recounted.

Additionally, the assailants kidnapped three other people, including a lady, and inflicted injuries upon Audu Kwakulu from Ungwan Pah, who is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

As they retreated, the bandits also killed a herdsman in Kuchimi village and ransacked seven shops in Janjala village, both situated in Kagarko Local Government Area.

At the time of reporting, Kaduna Police spokesman DSP Muhammed Jalige could not be reached for comment.

Kaduna State, located in the North West region, has been grappling with a distressing surge in insecurity.

Bandits have been causing immense hardship for residents in various parts of the state, despite repeated assurances from the government to address the situation.
