Neptune Prime CEO, Dr Gimba, bags 2 awards for youth empowerment
Northern student organisations, namely, Sir Ahmadu Bello Youth Council of Nigeria (ABYCN) and Arewa Students Forum (ASF) have presented awards of excellence to the CEO/Publisher of Neptune Network Nigeria Limited, Dr Hassan Gimba, for his selfless commitment and passion for youth empowerment in the country.
Presenting their award at Neptune Prime’s head office in Abuja, the speaker of ABYCN, Lawal Abdulhafiz together with Austine Shuaibu (Financial Secretary) and Yakubu M. Saidu (Director, Contacts and Mobilisation) described Gimba as a media guru with an immense interest in youth development.
He said Gimba has impacted many responsible youths who have contributed positively to national development in Nigeria.
The group praised his fight for a better society through his writings on the pages of newspapers as a columnist and his book, The Arbiter.
Presenting their awards, Comrade Abubakar Abdullahi, ASF National President with Comrade Radioat Abdullahi, Vice President; Comrade Aisha Abubakar, Treasurer and Comrade Husssaina Usman lauded Dr Gimba for the efforts to boost youths’ capacity by offering employment opportunities and mentorship.
The group said such intervention is needed at a time when most young people are engaging in various vices which have created a societal problem and become a source of concern to everybody.
In his remarks, Dr Gimba expressed gratitude to the student councils for the recognition, he acknowledged their initiative to ensure youths live a value-added life by organising vocational training and guidance and counselling.
He urged Nigerian youths to seek financial independence through skills acquisition.
Dr Gimba said it would not only lower the high rate of unemployment in the country but enable them to earn a living and contribute meaningfully to their families.
Speaking further, he said, “Whatever I do for youths in Nigeria is not because I am expecting an award or want to be seen but for the development of the nation.”
Also speaking during the brief ceremony, Hajiya Jamila Moh’d Kolo, commended the two unions for the honour and called for more guidance and counselling in primary and secondary schools so students can be guided to select careers according to their choices and interests.
