Biography of Engr. Dr. Mrs. Rahmatu Aliyu Abarshi

Ramatu Abarshi is a lecturer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist whose vision and leadership skills continue to seer the wheel of various entrepreneurial organizations that transform many Nigerians.

She has vast experience in Human Capital Development, training, peace-building advocacy, and business development. She is a teacher and trainer per excellence and a grassroots development expert with analysis and research experience in the areas of engineering, entrepreneurship, and workforce development.

She has an array of entrepreneurial skills, and the ability to deliver high-level, practical solutions in poverty alleviation. She has experience in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders from the grassroots level up to the national government.

She is the convener, of Barkindo Rahama Initiative (BRAIN), a leading technical, vocational, and entrepreneurial development initiative that focuses on entrepreneurial skill development.

She is a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a licensed Electrical Engineer by the Council for the Reputation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), and a member of several professional, social, and cultural associations. She is a founder of Barkindo Rahama Women for Peace and development initiative (BRWPDI) which is about reaching out to youths, women, and physically challenged individuals in society. The program is designed to provide platforms and empowerment to the vulnerable with soft and hard skills that will not only broaden their mindset but also allow them to stand on their own.

Ramatu is a former head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, at Kaduna Polytechnic, Former Project Manager at Kadpoly Consult, Former Examination Officer, the at Centre for Technology Entrepreneurship Education and Development (CTEED), and Currently, she is on the board of directors member, of Scientific Equipment Development Institute Enugu, Enugu State, Nigeria.

A member Board of Trustees, Nigerian Society of Engineers.  She is a principal consultant of JKUAT-NG. She has a Ph.D. and M. Phil from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and a Master of Engineering degree from Bayero University Kano, Nigeria, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, a Higher National Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Kaduna Polytechnic.

She is a registered Electrical Engineering by the Council for the Regulation of Engineers in Nigeria (COREN) and a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. Ramatu has been at the forefront of facilitation entrepreneurship training for youths, women, and physically challenged people in addition to training students to translate engineering knowledge into enterprise in southern Kaduna and Kaduna Polytechnic respectively. She has won several awards of excellence for service to humanity among many others from different organizations.

Engr. Dr. Mrs. Ramatu Aliyu Abarshi is a member of several professional, social, and cultural associations. She is a member of the Southern Kaduna joint committee, among many others. Ramatu is a mother and grandmother. Her husband Late Air Commander Ali Abarshi was a source of encouragement who supported her education greatly, and her children, now her best friends are her inspiration and source of joy together, they both put in their enormous efforts to see that she achieve her passion for community service impactfully.

Dr. Abarshi’s success is due to the divine design of Almighty God, and her determination in everything she does. She doesn’t rest until a set goal is accomplished.
