Gov. Sani Bello unveils innovative Basic Science Model Primary School in Suleja
The Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello, has officially commissioned the first Basic Science Model Primary School in Suleja.
The project, initiated by the Niger State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), marks a significant milestone for the state.
Mary Noel-Berje, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, released a press statement regarding the event.
Governor Bello expressed his delight with the project and emphasized its importance in promoting early exposure to science.
“This school is dedicated to catching them young in the field of science,” he explained.
By providing a specialized primary school focused on science education, the state aims to lay a strong foundation for students, making their transition to secondary school much smoother.
The Governor-elect, Umar Mohammed Bago, commended the initiative and assured the public that his administration would build upon this success.
He stated that this project perfectly aligns with his vision for the state and pledged to replicate it throughout Niger State.
Hajiya Hannatu Salihu, the Commissioner for Education, lauded the initiative as praiseworthy and emphasized its role as a feeder school for science secondary schools across the state.
She revealed plans to administer a special entrance examination for children from all wards across the 25 local government areas of the state, ensuring equal access to this unique educational opportunity.
Saidu Ibrahim, the Chairman of SUBEB, described the project as a pilot scheme and announced the establishment of similar schools in the towns of Lapai, Beri, and New Bussa.
The newly inaugurated school in Suleja boasts ten well-equipped classrooms, a basic science laboratory, an e-library, an office, restrooms, and a playground.
To ensure effective teaching and learning, each classroom will accommodate 30 pupils.
Accompanied by the Governor-elect and members of the state executive council, Governor Bello inspected the facilities of the school, appreciating the efforts put into its development.
