President Tinubu, VP Shettima kickstart new administration at Aso Villa

Story from Vivian DANIEL, Abuja

President Bola Tinubu wasted no time as he arrived at his office in the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, just a day after his inauguration.

His first day at work followed a grand reception for 40 Heads of State at the Banquet Hall the previous day.

Tinubu’s motorcade pulled up at the forecourt of the Villa at 02:38 pm on Tuesday, where he was warmly received by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Godwin Emefiele, CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited Mele Kyari, and the Permanent Secretary of the State House Tijjani Umar.

Other notable figures present were the former Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Edun, Mr. Dele Alake, and Hon. James Faleke.

Prior to his entrance, the new Commander-in-Chief inspected the Quarter Guard at the presidential gate.

Similarly, Vice President Kashim Shettima, having also been sworn in the previous day, wasted no time in assuming duties at the Office of the Vice President in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

On Tuesday, he was warmly received by the staff of the Vice President’s Office and engaged in a brief interaction with them.

Shortly after settling into his office, Shettima took questions from State House correspondents.

In his address, Shettima expressed the new administration’s commitment to transforming Nigeria and sought the unwavering support of its citizens.

He emphasized Tinubu’s determination to redefine the concept of modern governance and urged Nigerians to rally around him, offering their unconditional support and loyalty to realize the Nigerian dream.

Shettima conveyed confidence in Tinubu’s ability to lead Nigeria to great heights, citing his skillset, temperament, purity of mind, and commitment to serving the nation.

As Tinubu began his first day at work, the presidency was expected to announce key principal officers of the new administration, including his Chief of Staff, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, National Security Adviser, and Spokesperson.

Shettima addressed various important issues such as fuel subsidy, multiple exchange rates, and the unveiling of the administration’s agenda.

He assured the public that Tinubu would decisively tackle the fuel subsidy issue, collapsing multiple exchange rates into one, and present a comprehensive agenda for the nation.

Both Tinubu and Shettima expressed their dedication to working harmoniously as a team for the greater good of the nation.

Shettima also took the opportunity to extend condolences to Daar Communications on the passing of its founder, Raymond Dokpesi, whom he regarded as a good friend and a good man.
