52 arrested in London during King Charles III coronation
No fewer than 52 persons were arrested during the coronation of King Charles III in the city on Saturday, according to the London Metropolitan Police.
Commander Karen Findlay, who disclosed the development said those arrested were on suspicion of “affray, public order offences, breach of the peace and conspiracy to cause a public nuisance”.

“The Met absolutely understand public concern following the arrests we made this morning”.
“We have policed numerous protests without intervention in the build-up to the Coronation, and during it. Our duty is to do so in a proportionate manner in line with relevant legislation.
“We also have a duty to intervene when protest becomes criminal and may cause serious disruption,” she said.
The arrest was swiftly condemned by human rights groups and criticised the Met police over the capture of anti-monarchy protesters.
The arrests according to Human Rights Watch was unexpected as they described it as “something you would expect to see in Moscow, not London”.
