Assault: Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti arrested
Renowned Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, has on Monday been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command for assaulting a police officer on duty over the weekend in Lagos.
The command Public Relations Officer (PRO), Benjamin Hundeyin who disclosed this in a statement explained that the singer has been detained. He said investigation is currently on going.

Hundeyin stated, “Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, in the early hours of today turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, in company of his lawyer and family representative.
“He has been placed under arrest in line with the law. The Command appreciates the public for their concern and assures that the ongoing investigation will be detailed, transparent, professionally pursued; and justice will be manifestly served for all parties involved.”
Kuti’s arrest comes barely 48 hours after the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, had on Saturday ordered immediate arrest of the singer after a video surfaced on online where he was seen slapping an officer on duty in Lagos.
