Aviation minister announces arrival of Nigeria Airplane on Friday

Nigeria’s Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, announced that a plane for Nigeria Air will arrive in the country on Friday, marking the beginning of preparations for its operations.

During an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday night, the minister stated that the Nigeria Air aircraft will land within two days, serving as a crucial step towards commencing operations and unveiling the delivery process.

He assured the public that the aircraft would proudly display Nigeria’s national colors, fulfilling the promises made by the administration to enhance the aviation sector.

Regarding the achievements outlined in the road map, the minister highlighted the completion of all items except for the aerotropolis, an airport city development project that is currently 60 percent finished.

He mentioned that the groundwork had been completed, and the next administration would focus on concluding the work on the airport city.

However, it remains uncertain whether the minister intends to proceed with establishing the national carrier while there is an existing court order that led to the airline’s suspension earlier.

Furthermore, there are pending certifications required before Nigeria Air can take off. With just a few days left before the end of the current administration, it remains unclear if the minister plans to launch the airline before May 29.

Back in March, during an aviation stakeholder’s forum in Abuja, Sirika had expressed his commitment to ensuring that Nigeria Air would commence full operations before the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

In response to a question regarding the exact commencement date, the minister had confidently stated, “We will fly before the end of this administration, before May 29th.”
