Education minister admits impregnating deputy, calls it an “accidental” encounter
The Education Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Tony Mwaba Kazadi, has confessed to impregnating his Deputy Minister, Aminata Namasia, claiming that it was an “accidental” occurrence.
Local reports have revealed that Kazadi and Namasia, despite being married, developed romantic feelings for each other while working together in the DRC’s education ministry.
According to a DRC journalist named Lungila John, who took to Twitter, the affair between these officials led to the pregnancy of the deputy education minister.
The duo has faced heavy criticism from the citizens of the DRC, who accuse them of displaying poor conduct and immorality.
Archy Lema, a DRC citizen and Twitter user, expressed their disappointment, referring to the country as a “land of shame.”
Lema also mentioned that Namasia, due to her actions, lacks the moral standing to provide education to young women in the country.
Another citizen of the DRC commented that if politicians in the country, particularly Kazadi and Namasia, desired to be addressed as “excellencies” or “honourables,” their conduct should have been more exemplary and honorable, considering their popularity and wealth, which sets them apart from ordinary Congolese citizens.
According to The Heritage Times, Namasia was appointed as the National Deputy Minister of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education in the DRC under Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde’s cabinet on April 12, 2021.
