From Almost Giving Up To Making History: Hilda Baci smashes Guinness World Record
Hilda Bassey Effiong, also known as Hilda Baci, a record-breaking chef, recently revealed that she almost gave up just six hours into the contest that would eventually see her shatter world records by cooking for 100 consecutive hours, earning her a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
Hilda expressed her gratitude to God and everyone who supported her, particularly her mother and brother.
She emphasized that she nearly quit the competition due to exhaustion and lack of strength.
However, her mother stood by her side for 14 hours, providing encouragement and strength.
Hilda, a Sociology graduate from Madonna University, emerged from the restaurant after completing the hundred-hour mark.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, she said, “I am so grateful to God. I almost gave up on this record-breaking contest six hours after I started last Thursday. I was tired and couldn’t continue, but my mom stood by me for 14 hours and gave me the strength to carry on. I made it here because of your support and the unwavering support of my mom, who raised seven of us. I want to tell you all that dreams do come true. I had planned this five years ago but couldn’t do it then. Today, I made it because of all of you. Hold on to your dreams, folks, because dreams do come true.”

Hilda Baci’s remarkable achievement made history in Lagos, Nigeria, as she broke the Guinness Book of Records by cooking for 100 hours straight, preparing a variety of delicacies that left thousands of onlookers amazed.
Amidst a rapturous atmosphere at Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos, the twenty-seven-year-old chef shattered the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes set by Guinness World Record holder Lata Tandon.
Hilda Baci has now become the new Guinness World Record holder for the longest individual cooking marathon, as she reached the 100-hour mark by 8 pm on Monday night.
Hilda’s mother, Mrs. Lynda Ndukwe, couldn’t contain her joy and continuously praised and thanked God for the accomplishment.
The proud mother, who came from a humble background, recalled a time when she could only afford a one-room apartment in Abuja. Now, God has turned their lives around, granting them fame through her daughter’s record-breaking achievement.
Mrs. Ndukwe, who is a cook herself and the Chief Executive Officer of Calabar Pot, has been a pillar of support for her daughter throughout the cooking marathon. Numerous images of her online show her kneeling down in gratitude to God.
Hilda Baci received immense support from celebrities like Tiwa Savage, Kate Henshaw, and Shawn Faqua, who were present at the event to cheer on the queen chef.
Senator Godswill Akpabio and other Senators-elect paid a solidarity visit to Hilda Baci, congratulating her on setting a new world record for the longest cooking marathon.
Akpabio, the the former governor of Hilda’s home state of Akwa Ibom, was captured on video tasting Hilda’s meal alongside Saliu Mustapha and other senators.
Over the course of four days, since Hilda Baci began her attempt to break the world record for the longest cooking time by an individual, many Nigerians have visited and sent their support to the chef, who hails from Akwa Ibom.
