Gov. Buni approves N30bn for roads construction, other projects

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has on Wednesday approved over thirty billion naira for the execution of various projects across the state as he chaired a valedictory State Executive Council meeting held at the council chamber in government house Damaturu.

Briefing journalist on the outcome of the executive meeting, the State Commissioner Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation, Abdullahi Bego, said Governor Mai Mala Buni congratulated each member who had the privilege to serve on the council.

Mr Bego stated that Buni who chaired the last Exco under his first administration
was full of joy over the team work by the members of the council over the last four years.

He noted that the governor was very pleased with his cabinet for their individual and collective contribution to the activities of the administration in the last four years.

Bego further revealed that Buni described the big successes which his first tenure recorded as a result of hard work, commitment, sacrifice and patience by the members of the State Executive Council.

Earlier briefing the journalist on some of the ratified and approved projects under his Ministry during the valedictory session, the state commissioner, ministry of works, Engr. Umar Wakili Duddaye, said the council has approved over thirty billion naira, (₦30 Billion) for execution of various projects across the state.

According to the Commissioner, the projects were divided in to three parts which are; township roads in Nguru, Gashua, Potiskum and Geidam.

“The second part are new projects that were initiated, which include the construction of 18kms roads from Fika to Maluri, 25.5km from Gashua to Dumburi- Masaba, 4.5 kms on Nguru high way to Karasuwa Galu, and 18 kms from Bukarti to Toshia in Yunusari local government area respectively.

“While the third part of the project are the reconstruction of some roads which were damaged during the last rain fall in the state.

“This includes reconstruction of roads from Geidam to Bukarti, Baimari to Yunusari and Yunusari to Kafiya up to Kanamma respectively.

Engineer Duddaye further said all the projects consist of 93 kms roads for construction, 20 kms concrete drainage for township roads and 66 kms for new roads that cost the sum of 30,440,740,658,60.

The state executive members are expected to be dissolved within the week.
