Gov. Sani Bello hands over transition document to incoming governor

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has handed over the transition document to the Governor-elect, Umar Mohammed Bago, as the May 29 inauguration approaches.

The official ceremony took place at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Minna, as announced in a press release by Mary Noel-Berje, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State.

Governor Sani Bello emphasized the smoothness of the transition, attributing it to the fact that it was a transition within their party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He expressed confidence that the documents provided to the incoming governor would serve as a guide for a seamless start to his administration.

Governor Sani Bello highlighted the synergy between himself and the Governor-elect, assuring that his administration had laid the necessary groundwork for a quick and efficient handover to the next government.

He also pledged his continuous availability and support to the upcoming administration.

In response, Umar Bago acknowledged the significance of a peaceful transition in a democratic system.

He expressed his excitement about assuming office, particularly because he was succeeding his “older brother.”

Bago appreciated Governor Sani Bello’s non-interference during the electoral process, which allowed him to contest and secure victory as the APC’s gubernatorial candidate.

Among the documents handed over were the Sovereign Investment for Niger State and local government councils, along with share certificates valued at $6.7 million and $5 million for the state and local governments, respectively.

Speaking to reporters, Senator Sani Musa, representing Niger East, described the handover as historic, given that it took place within the party.

He expressed confidence in Bago’s ability to succeed and pledged to provide advice as a Nigerlite and lawmaker to contribute to the state’s growth and development.

In addition to the transition document handover, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello inaugurated the reconstructed Governor’s lodge and gave Governor-elect Umar Bago a tour of the official residence.
