Nigerian teenager sets new Guinness World Record for most skips on one foot

A Nigerian pupil, Philip Solomon, hailing from Oyemekun Grammar School in Akure, Ondo State, has achieved a remarkable feat by being declared the new Guinness World Record holder for the most skips on one foot in 30 seconds.

At the age of 17, Solomon accomplished an impressive 153 skips on one foot, surpassing the previous record set by Rasel Islam of Bangladesh, which stood at 145 skips.

The Guinness World Record officially confirmed Solomon’s achievement on Tuesday, a momentous occasion that came four months after his record-breaking attempt.

Solomon’s motivation stemmed from watching a video of Rasel Islam’s previous record, which ignited his determination to claim the title.

With unwavering dedication and relentless training, Solomon embarked on his journey to secure the record, even having the privilege to participate in a skipping world championship.

Following in the footsteps of his fellow student, Gbenga Ezekiel from Ijapo High School in Akure, who previously secured a Guinness World Record for the most skips on one leg in one minute with an astounding 265 skips, Solomon’s accomplishment has increased Nigeria’s rope skipping Guinness World Records tally to two.

Sharing his inspiration, Solomon expressed his admiration for Gbenga Ezekiel’s remarkable achievement earlier this year.

Their remarkable successes not only bring pride to their respective schools but also contribute to the growing recognition of Nigerian talent on the global stage.
