NPC approves payment to bloggers for promotion of 2023 Census campaigns
The National Population Commission (NPC) said it is bringing together a formidable team of Social media influencers and bloggers for active participation in promoting the 2023 Census campaign.
The commission has also approved the sum of a Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000) stipend to be paid to each blogger/social media influencer monthly based on the satisfactory performance of the assigned tasks.
The preamble, tasks and assignments, budgetary provisions, and submission of the media campaigns were disclosed in a press statement by Stanley O. Nwosu Social Media Manager, for the Director, Public Affairs Department.
“Following the successful conduct of the bloggers/social media influencers workshop on 25th March 2023 to sensitise Nigerian bloggers and social media influencers on their mass mobilisation role toward the success of the 2023 Population and Housing Census and the subsequent creation of a WhatsApp group for those that attended the workshop, it has become imperative to engage this formidable team for active participation in promoting the 2023 Census campaign.

“They shall counter negative comments and criticisms on NPC social media platforms and develop, create, generate, and write positive content on the 2023 Census and post it on personal media handles (at least twice weekly).
“The bloggers/social media influencers intervene in trends/discussions online, which are inimical to the NPC, and seize the initiative to positively change the narratives and neutralise negative perceptions and apathy of the populace towards the 2023 Census.
“To be consistent and regular in the positive portrayal of the 2023 Census in most online communication platforms and always defend the Commission on online platforms against fake news, misinformation, and disinformation regarding the 2023 Census.
He said they will also help promote the 2023 Census Slogan and hashtags.
Nwosu revealed that the sum of a Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000) stipend has been approved to pay each blogger/social media influencer monthly based on the satisfactory performance of the assigned tasks.
“Please kindly note that those who failed to meet up with the required performance of the tasks will not be entitled to the monthly stipend.
“All members are requested to submit reports of media campaigns (News links, summary of reach and engagements) that were conducted for the NPC in April to Stanley Nwosu on this WhatsApp Number 08061207153 on or before 12th May 2023 for ease of collation and proper assessment of the KPIs and further necessary action.
“Going forward, members are enjoined to be posting the news links of their media campaigns on the group’s WhatsApp page for daily checks,” Nwosu said.
