Police neutralize kidnappers in Adamawa, recover AK 47 rifles, ammunition
The Adamawa State Police Command has reported the successful killing of two kidnappers who had been terrorizing parts of Wuro Ladde, Wuro Alhaji, Maiha, and Gombi local government areas.
According to SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the Command’s spokesperson, the operation was carried out by the Command’s operatives attached to the Crack Squad in a joint operation with Hunters, yielding positive results.
The outcome of these successful operations followed a collaborative strategy with Hunters to Dislodge Criminal Hideouts and Black Spots, which was designed by the command to checkmate cases bordering on kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling, unlawful possession of firearms, amongst others.
In his statement, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje revealed that the suspected kidnappers engaged the police in a gunfight upon sighting them, and two of them were neutralized.
“One was arrested, while others escaped with bullet wounds. The police recovered two AK 47 rifles with five rounds of live ammunition.
“The arrested suspect, Usman Umar, 26 years old, is now assisting the Police with useful information that will aid investigation and prosecution”, he said.
The Commissioner of Police (CP), Afolabi Babatola, expressed his happiness and praised SP Dibal Husseni Tijjani, Commander of the Crack Squad, his men, and the hunters for their gallantry performance.
He directed them to further give a hot chase to those on the run and ensure they are denied the opportunity of re-grouping anywhere in the state.
CP Babatola called on the populace to always inform and work in synergy with the police of the whereabouts of criminals and rid them out from their hideouts, especially those on the run with bullet wounds if seen.
