Tinubu begins European tour to revive economy, empower youth
President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu has embarked on a working visit to Europe this afternoon, just two weeks after his return from a month-long vacation in France.
A statement from his media office, signed by Tunde Rahman, explained that the purpose of the trip is to allow the president-elect to finalize his transition plans with his key aides without unnecessary pressure.
“The trip provides an opportunity for Tinubu to refine the transition plans, programs, and policy options with his key aides, free from unnecessary pressures and distractions,” the statement noted.
Additionally, during his visit, Tinubu will meet with investors and other key allies to promote investment opportunities in the country.
He aims to highlight his administration’s commitment to creating a business-friendly climate through favourable policies and regulations.

“Meetings with representatives from various sectors in Europe’s business community, including manufacturing, agriculture, technology, and energy, have already been scheduled,” the statement continued.
“Tinubu hopes to convince them of Nigeria’s readiness to engage in business under his leadership, fostering mutually beneficial partnerships that prioritize job creation and skill development.”
Reviving the country’s economy is a significant focus of Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
The meetings in Europe are part of his efforts to re-establish Nigeria’s importance in the global economic chain and provide empowering opportunities for the country’s large youth population.
Rahman recalled the president-elect’s previous vow to hit the ground running as soon as he assumes office.
He emphasized that this trip reflects Tinubu’s commitment to his promise, as he has already initiated discussions with global actors in vital areas such as the economy and security.
Before leaving the country, Tinubu met with the All Progressives Congress-endorsed candidates for Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas and Hon. Benjamin Kalu, respectively. They were presented to him by a Joint Task Team of the House.
Tinubu is scheduled to return shortly to make preparations for his official swearing-in as the 16th President of Nigeria on May 29, 2023, as stated in the press release.
