US Mission confirms rescue of two workers in Anambra attack
The United States Mission in Nigeria has confirmed the rescue of two of its employees who went missing after an attack on their convoy in Ogbaru Local Government of Anambra State on Tuesday.
The attack resulted in the death of four people. Earlier on Friday, the police had announced the rescue of two individuals involved in the Tuesday attack.
According to a brief statement by DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, a joint security force successfully rescued the two victims unharmed during the early hours of Friday.
The abduction had taken place during an attack on a US convoy along Atani/Osamela road in Ogbaru.

Later on Friday, the US Mission released a statement confirming the safe rescue of two of its staff. They also informed the families of the employees about their recovery.
The statement mentioned that the employees were currently under the protection of Nigerian authorities in Anambra and that US Mission personnel were on their way to meet and accompany them back home.
The US Mission expressed gratitude for the partnership and solidarity of the Nigerian government, as well as Nigerian security and law enforcement colleagues. They also extended their condolences to those who lost their lives in the attack.
The US Mission emphasized its commitment to working closely with Nigerian authorities to identify the previously discovered victims and bring the perpetrators of the attack to justice. They encouraged the public to provide any relevant information regarding the incident.
In the meantime, the police reported on Thursday that two suspects had been arrested in connection with the Tuesday attack.
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr Echeng Echeng, disclosed that a Joint Security Task Force, comprised of police tactical teams and troops of the Nigerian Army and Navy, conducted a raid on the suspects’ hideout at Ugwuaneocha community in Ogbaru LGA.
However, upon arrival, the security operatives found the camp deserted. The Commissioner mentioned that two persons of interest had been arrested and were currently being interrogated by the police.
