Police warn against illegal use of siren in Kano

Story from Shafaatu DAUDA, Kano

Kano State Police Command has warned against the use of sirens by undesignated members of the public and its unnecessary usage by those with authorisation.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

He said, “The Commissioner of Police has declared that vehicle sirens are meant for designated people in society, medicals, and other emergencies. Users are with specific guidelines and there are regulated hours when the siren cannot be blown. Sirens are blown daily between 6 am and terminated at 6 pm.

”The police command also warned members of the public to be aware that sirens constitute hazards/noise and it is environmental pollution that can affect the sick and pose as harassment to fellow citizens,” the statement said.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police warns members of the public to note that circulars have been issued to all Police Formations, Divisions, and Patrol Teams to engage in thorough checks with the view of bringing the violators to justice.
