Tinubu suspends EFCC boss Abdulrasheed Bawa indefinitely
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Abdulrasheed Bawa.
Willie Bassey Director, Information Secretary to the Government of the Federation made the announcement via a tweet on Wednesday, 14 June, 2023.

He said, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved the indefinite suspension from office of Mr AbdulRasheed Bawa, CON, as the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office.
“This follows weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him. Mr Bawa has been directed to immediately handover the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation.
Bawa’s suspension is coming few days after the president Mr Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of the Central Bank as a result of the ongoing investigation into his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.
Neptune Prime report that Emefiele was later arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) for investigation.
