Abuja car dealer left in disarray as customer vanishes with N55 million Benz during test drive
A car dealer named Mohammed Manga found himself in a state of confusion after a customer, identified only as Henry, disappeared with one of his cars, a Mercedes Benz GLB 250, in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
According to Manga, a fellow car dealer and friend paid a visit to his office in Abuja. The friend, who also sold cars, expressed a desire to take the vehicle, which was worth over N55 million, to a potential customer interested in purchasing it.
After delivering the vehicle to the customer, who introduced himself as Henry, Manga explained that his friend accompanied Henry during the test drive.
However, the situation took an unexpected turn when Manga’s friend informed Henry that he needed to withdraw money from a Point of Sale (PoS) operator to purchase fuel for the vehicle at a nearby filling station.
Manga further revealed that when his friend got out of the car to make the withdrawal, Henry swiftly drove off with the vehicle, leaving both the car and his friend behind.
Henry’s sudden disappearance caught everyone off guard, taking advantage of the absence of traffic in Abuja to make a clean getaway.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Manga promptly reported the incident to the Anti-Car Theft Unit of the local police command. Describing the stolen car as a grey Mercedes Benz with a mileage of 19,000, he sought their assistance in recovering the vehicle.
When contacted, Josephine Ameh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, assured that the police were actively tracking the suspect, Henry.
