Bandits abduct Catholic priest in Kaduna

The Chancellor of Kafanchan Diocese, Reverend Father Emmanuel Uchechukwu Okolo, has made a distressing announcement regarding the kidnapping of Rev. Fr. Jeremiah Yakubu, the parish priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Karku, located in the Kauru Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State.

In a statement provided to journalists in Kaduna, Rev. Fr. Okolo shared the unfortunate news.

“It is with deep sorrow that we inform you about the abduction of our esteemed Priest, Rev. Fr. Jeremiah Yakubu. This tragic incident occurred on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at approximately 11 p.m.,” he revealed.

Rev. Fr. Jeremiah, who serves as the Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Parish in Karku, was forcefully taken from the parish rectory situated in the Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

“While we humbly implore fervent prayers for his swift and safe release, we also appeal to everyone to refrain from resorting to vigilantism or taking the law into their own hands,” urged Rev. Fr. Okolo.

“We will employ all legitimate means to ensure the prompt and secure release of Father Jeremiah. May we beseech Jesus, crucified on the Cross, to hear our prayers and expedite the unconditional liberation of His devoted Priest and all other individuals currently held in captivity.”
