‘Best news ever’, Hilda Baci in tears after Guinness World Records confirmation

After Guinness World Records confirmed her as the record holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci has described the news as ‘the best ever’ while breaking down in tears.

Guinness World Records, via its official website on Tuesday confirmed Baci as the new world record holder for the longest cooking marathon.

The post reads, “Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes.

“The 26-year-old Nigerian chef began on Thursday 11 May and continued through to Monday 15 May, cooking over 100 pots of food during her four-day kitchen stint.

“Hilda attempted to set a record of 100 hours, however, almost seven hours were deducted from her final total because she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt.”

Taking to Twitter to react to her confirmed record, the chef was full of thanks while gushing over the official confirmation.

She wrote, “This is the best news ever, omg omg omg thank you so much”.

Congratulations from her fans on social media have poured in as wild jubilation greeted the confirmation.

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi is among those that celebrated the chef on Twitter.

He said, “Congratulations to you Hilda Baci

You believed in your vision, you persevered till the end, and you have now carved your name in the golden books of history and have brought great honour to our nation. You have, by your victory, reminded us that the path through which one attains victory in any endeavour must be excellent. By towing the path of hard work and determination, you broke a world record. Millions of people across the world are now inspired by you.

“I remain committed to building a new Nigeria that will provide various noble and productive platforms for Nigerian youths to live out their dreams and compete favourably on the global stage. It is POssible! -PO”, he tweeted.

“Hilda Baci has finally been awarded the record for the world’s longest cooking marathon. Perseverance & dedication won.”

@OfficialBorbor says, “I sha Happy say the rain wey beat me that day wasn’t in vain. Congratulations Hilda Baci to the world.”

@MambweMusonda6 says, “Finally!!!! Congratulations Hilda Baci!!!!! So proud of you!!! Genuinely happy!! You deserve it, girl!!!!”
