Enugu State Govt Warns Businesses: Disregard IPOB’s Monday sit-at-home order or face closure

Enugu State Government has issued a stern warning to schools, markets, retail outlets, hospitals, transporters, and malls that continue to adhere to the weekly Monday sit-at-home order imposed by the proscribed Independent People of Biafra (IPOB).

The state government declared on Saturday, in Enugu, that it had officially revoked the order issued by the banned group.

Furthermore, a task force has been established to ensure compliance with the new directive, effective from Monday, June 5.

Governor Peter Mbah, on June 1, announced the cancellation of the IPOB’s Monday sit-at-home order in Enugu State, citing its detrimental impact on the entrepreneurial spirit, commerce, and creativity of the state’s residents.

In light of this, the government issued a warning on Saturday, emphasizing that all schools, markets, retail outlets, hospitals, transporters, malls, and members of the public must adhere to the cancellation of IPOB’s order.

The government has urged all residents in the state to resume their normal business activities throughout the week, including Mondays.

It assured the public that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure their safety.

Members of the government’s task force will be actively monitoring compliance and any market, transport outlet, or other business entity that fails to open for business will face immediate closure, according to Mr. Dan Neomeh, the head of Governor Mbah’s media team.
