Gbajabiamila resigns House seat, assumes CoS position to President Tinubu

Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, has resigned from his position as a member of the 10th Assembly following his assumption of duties as the Chief of Staff (CoS) to President Tinubu.

On Wednesday, June 14, 2023, Gbajabiamila submitted his resignation letter on the floor of the House of Representatives before Hon. Abbas and fellow members of the House.

The newly appointed Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, read out the letter to the assembly.

After presenting his resignation letter, the former Speaker gracefully bowed before the new Speaker and the members, receiving a thunderous applause and a standing ovation from the lawmakers.

Throughout his twenty-year career in the House, Gbajabiamila held several key positions including Minority Leader, Majority Leader, and Speaker.

He had also been reelected to represent Surulere 1 Federal Constituency in Lagos State prior to his recent appointment as Chief of Staff.
