Strike: Nigerians to prepare for blackout as as electricity workers join NLC
Members of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) have been directed to halt their services nationwide from Wednesday, June 7 in solidarity of the proposed nationwide strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
Neptune Prime had earlier reported that the leadership of the NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) had on Friday, June 2 announced to embark on a nationwide strike following the removal of fuel subsidy which led to the sharp increase in prices of fuel nationwide by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

In a memo signed by its acting general secretary, Dominic Igwebike, the NUEE urged its members to comply with the directive and stop work from the early hours of Wednesday.
‘’All National, State and Chapter executives are requested to start the mobilisation of our members in total compliance with this directive,” the union stated.
“Please note that withdrawal of Services nationwide commences from 0.00 hours of Wednesday, June 7, 2023.
“You are encouraged to work with the leadership of State Executive Councils (SEC) of the Congress in your various states with a view to having a successful action.”
The NLC have held talks with the representatives of the federal government sequel to the removal of subsidy but the talks have ended in deadlock with both parties not shifting grounds.
