Young graduate inspires others by defending her virginity during NYSC

Justina Dauda, a 20-year-old political science graduate from Taraba State’s Karim Lamido local government area, recently gained attention for her social media posts about maintaining her virginity during her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) service year.
In this article, she shares her reasons for being vocal about her decision.
She said: “When I was in a state of poverty, I made a personal commitment to myself not to engage in any unethical behaviour that might cause me to lose my virginity. It was a matter of honouring the memory of my late father and upholding my values before God. Once I made that decision, I have remained steadfast. Under no circumstances will my virginity be compromised.”
Throughout my year of service, I faced numerous challenges. People I encountered expressed an interest in dating me, but they often insisted on engaging in sexual activities before forming a relationship.
Some individuals would even go to the extent of tarnishing my reputation by spreading false rumours about sleeping with me when I refused to comply with their demands.
However, I am determined to stand my ground and inspire other young girls to do the same. Together, we can redefine societal norms and empower a generation of young women to confidently pursue their dreams while maintaining their integrity.
