Four-storey building collapse in Abuja, traps multiple people

A four-storey building that collapsed at Life Camp, Jabi, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has left many people trapped.

The incident occurred at about 4:00 pm on Monday while workers were on the site. The building, which was under construction, was meant to be a hotel, and collapsed, trapping many of the workers.

The building gave way shortly after the engineer left the site when the casting work was going on. According to eyewitness accounts, the building collapsed due to substandard materials.

Although rescue operations are ongoing, there are no major equipment on the ground. The rescue team, including officers of FCT Fire Service, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and the Nigerian police are on the scene.

Some officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) seen at the site declined to comment, insisting on saving the lives of those trapped.
