Ebonyi police confirm zero casualties amidst shooting incidents during sit-at-home order
The Ebonyi State Police Command has reported that there were no casualties during the recent shooting incidents in the state, which occurred as a result of a seven-day sit-at-home order issued by a faction of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The sit-at-home order, declared by an individual named Simon Ekpunobi based in Finland, commenced on Saturday and is scheduled to conclude on Friday.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abakaliki, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, affirmed that the group had resorted to sporadic shooting in certain locations to intimidate people and enforce the sit-at-home order.
“Yes, the group arrived and fired shots indiscriminately at the new market opposite Liberation Estate, prompting a swift response from our tactical team, and the area was cleared. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries sustained by civilians or the police,” Onovwakpoyeya explained.
She further stated, “The police have intensified patrols in the town and surrounding areas.”
