Enugu state councillor assassinated in his residence
Enugu state councillor, Nelson Sylvester, popularly known as Ofunwa, representing Eha-Ulo ward, in Nsukka Local Government Area Legislative Council, Enugu State, has been shot dead.
Sources reveal the lawmaker was murdered by gunmen on Sunday night at his residence in Eha-Alumonah, Enugu state. Although details of the incident is still vague, a reliable source however disclosed that the assailants stormed the lawmaker’s house and shot incessantly at his home.
The source further revealed that the lifeless body of the councilor was recovered from the neighbouringcompound he allegedly ran into for safety in a bid to escape from the assailants. This developmenthas sparked tension in the town and other neighbouring communities within the state.

The source describes the suspected assassination as one too many occurrences in the state. “it is heartbreaking; it is too hard for us to swallow. We are in deep agony.” the source lamented.
According to a report by Daily post, attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Enugu, DSP Daniel Ndukwe was futile as he was sadly unavailable to receive the calls at the time. Daily post also reported that a text message was sent across to the PPRO, but he is still yet to respond to the message as of the time this report was documented.
