New Ministries may be created soon – Gbajabiamila

President Tinubu’s administration has indicated the possibility of creating new ministries in a bid to enhance governance in the country. Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, revealed this during an interview with Channels Television in Abuja.

He stated, “Mr. President intends to separate portfolios or restructure the ministries in such a way that you might be hearing of new ministries that were not standalone ministries before. So the process continues.”

Tinubu entrusted the ministerial list to the National Assembly through Gbajabiamila, before it was read by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

Gbajabiamila, highlighting the thorough personal screening carried out by the President in choosing the nominees, disclosed that the second part of the list, consisting of 13 names, would be sent to the Assembly. He explained, “This is part of the process of having a cabinet for the administration.”

“Our President had a constitutional requirement to submit the list within 60 days of his inauguration, and he has fulfilled that mandate by submitting 28 names today,” Gbajabiamila stated. Regarding the remaining names, which he estimated to be around 12 or 13, he mentioned, “They will be forwarded to the Senate in the coming days.”

Those that made the 28 minister-nominees include Abubakar Momoh, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Ahmed Dangiwa, Hannatu Musawa, Chief Uche Nnaji, Dr Betta Edu, Dr Doris Aniche Uzoka, David Umahi, and Nyesom Wike.

Others are Badaru Abubakar, Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai, Ekperipe Ekpo, Nkeiruka Onyejocha, Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, Stella Okotette, Uju Kennedy Ohaneye, Mr Bello Muhammad Goronyo, Mr Dele Alake, and Mr Lateef Fagbemi.
