Controversy erupts as netizens unearth application allegedly used for fake UTME results (Video)
Amidst the controversies surrounding the allegations of result forgery leveled against Anambra student Ejikeme Mmesoma by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), netizens on social media have uncovered an application that can be used to “upgrade” Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scores.
The application, named “JAMB-Funfake,” was discovered on both the Apple Store and Google Play Store by some Nigerians seeking to delve into the root of the controversies surrounding Mmesoma’s “fake UTME result.”
JAMB accused Mmesoma of manually inflating her UTME score using “software,” but the Board did not disclose the name of the specific software. Nevertheless, some netizens believe that Mmesoma used the JAMB Funfake app to manipulate her result.

As a result, numerous Nigerians on social media have generated “fake” UTME results using the app.
One Nigerian on Twitter, Truthwill Prevail, after uploading their “UTME result” generated through the app, remarked, “I obtained the highest score in JAMB. It is easy to spot fake results; this app is meant for fun. App: JAMB Fake Results Maker.”
Another Twitter user, Wahab Akintayo, stated, “Using the JAMB Fun App on the Play Store, I generated this fake UTME result for Adekunle Ciroma Chukwuemeka.”
Facebook users also joined in the trend. Obioma Nwosu, a Facebook user, uploaded a “UTME result” generated by the app, and commented, “This is the issue. In solving the puzzle, you can generate JAMB results from the app on the Google Play Store, JAMB Fun-Fake Result Maker. I just generated this one. While others did it for fun, she took it to another level. And JAMB also took it seriously, knowing that this fake result generator exists. They should pardon the girl; it’s just mere childish exuberance.”
Another Facebook user, TJ Umar, shared their own “UTME result” and added, “Since I’ve been sitting for JAMB, I’ve never achieved an aggregate score of 200 or above. My scores have always been around 190, 196, and 199. Finally, I have fulfilled my long-term dream of surpassing my target score. To whoever created this app, you truly understand the joy of giving yourself something you can never have. So, is it with results like this that you apply for scholarships? Disclaimer: This result is fake. I generated it for social media fun and do not endorse the information it contains. Please do not take it seriously.”
According to reports, JAMB has banned Mmesoma from sitting the UTME for three years.
