Ebonyi state gov increases workers’ salary
Civil servants in Ebonyi State, southeast Nigeria will start receiving N10,000 increase in their salaries following an approval by the State Executive Council (EXCO) at its meeting on Thursday, July 13, 2023.
This was disclosed by the state Governor, Francis Nwifuru, on Friday on Twitter account.

Neptune Prime reports that the increase according to the governor was in line with his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of civil servants.
Also, the council approved approved the employment of 1,454 new civil servants into the state’s civil service.
The statement reads, “EMPLOYMENT OF CIVIL SERVANTS AND INCREMENT OF WORKERS’ SALARIES
“The State Executive Council Meeting of July 13, 2023 received a report from the Head of Service on areas we need to employ Ebonyians into various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of the State Civil Service.
“Accordingly, EXCO has approved the employment of 1,454 Ebonyians into the State Civil Service. Additionally, EXCO has as well approved the increase of salaries of our Civil Servants by Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000.00), each.”
This became necessary to reduce the burden of the current economic hardship felt particularly by low and middle income earners following the removal of subsidy on petrol which has automatically affected the cost of living in the country.
On the side of the Federal Government, the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been given an approval by the National Assembly to source for N500 billion for palliatives.
