Ex-Deputy Gov Agara, others appointed to football leagues’ boards

Honourable Silas Ali Agara, the former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Nigeria Nation-Wide League One.

This reconstitution also includes the appointment of boards for the Nigeria National League and the Nigeria Women Football League.

Hon. Silas Ali Agara will be supported by Mr. Adeoye Adepeju as his vice-chairman, with Malam Sabo Muhammed Dutse, Mr. Ogheneochuko Ambakaderemo, Mr. Tunji Onatolu, Barr. Bucknor Akintade, and Malam Danladi Ibrahim as board members. Malam Hassan Abdullahi Garo will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer.

With a background in sports administration and a strong advocacy for youth participation in sports and the rejection of drugs at the grassroots level, Hon. Silas Ali Agara expressed his gratitude for the appointment.

He emphasized his commitment to the development of sports in Nigeria and beyond, calling on his colleagues to unite and proactively work towards the growth and development of sports globally.

In addition, Mr. George Aluo has been named the new Chairman of the Nigeria National League, with Hon. Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki as his vice-chairman.

The board will include Mr. Yakubu Sarma, Malam Sani Mohammed, Dr. Donald Ikpe, Chief Joseph Uzoma Ebowusim, and Chief Dotun Sanusi as members. Mr. Emmanuel Attah will serve as the chief executive officer.

Heading the Nigeria Women Football League will be Nkechi Nneka Obi, with Hajiya Hussaina Suleman as the vice-chairman. Alhaja Rukayat Lola Alaya, former FIFA referee Hadiza Musa, Mr. Ayodele Thomas, Ms. Henrietta Ehiobor, and Mr. Danny Nazzal will also serve as members of the board.

The official inauguration of the boards will take place once the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, returns to the country from his continental assignments in Morocco and Cote d’Ivoire.

Meanwhile, Isa Mohammed, Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Nasarawa State chapter, and Secretary Smah George extend their congratulations to Hon. Silas Ali Agara on his well-deserved appointment as the Chairman of the Nigeria Nation-Wide League One by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
