In a statement by the Head of Public Affairs at the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Nkechi Isa, the permanent secretary attributed the building collapse to unprofessional and unsafe practices. He noted that the developer had been served a stop work notice, which was disregarded.

Olusade firmly stated that all relevant building codes will be enforced to hold those involved in the incident. He said, “This site is permanently closed, and a caveat will be placed on the plot to prevent any transactions. We will thoroughly investigate and determine the culpability, whether by the administration’s officials or external factors.”

Furthermore, Olusade directed the formation of a committee chaired by the Executive Secretary of the FCDA, Engr Hadi Ahmad, to investigate both the immediate and underlying causes of the building collapse.

Dr. Abbas Idriss, the Director-General of FEMA, announced that the rescue operation has been suspended. He assured that based on the information from those who were rescued, no one remains trapped under the debris. Extensive search efforts confirmed the absence of any individuals at the site.

The investigation aims to bring justice to the incident and ensure that necessary measures are taken to prevent such tragedies in the future.
