Gov. Bago sacks ex-gov appointees, dissolves statutory bodies
Niger State Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago has taken the decision to dismiss all former political appointees and dissolve statutory Commissions, Boards, and Parastatals that were in place prior to May 29, 2023.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, Governor Umar Bago has ordered the immediate termination of appointments and dissolution of these bodies.
Alhaji Usman further clarified that both tenured and non-tenured Commissions, Boards, and Parastatals are included in this dissolution, and he urged the relevant officials to promptly adhere to this directive.

While acknowledging the positive contributions made by those affected by the state’s development and their respective offices, the SSG instructed them to hand over all Government properties, including official vehicles, to the most senior Director within their organizations.
The statement, signed by Lawal Tanko, an Information Officer in the SSG’s Office, conveyed the Governor’s well-wishes to the members of the dissolved Commissions, Boards, Parastatals, and political appointees in their future endeavours.
