Gov. Buni unveils construction of Gashua-Masaba, Karasuwa Galu Road projects

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has on Monday flagged-off the construction of 29.5 kilometre Gashua-Masaba, Karasuwa Galu Road projects in the state.

Buni said the construction of the roads in the state is in continuation of government’s drive to provide infrastructure to open up state communities for socio-economic growth and prosperity.

He noted that the roads when completed would enhance easy transportation of goods and services to and from the benefitting communities especially farm produce such as millet, Guinea corn, beans, sesame and melon seeds among other foodstuffs which are produced in large commercial quantities.

The governor stated that the construction of the roads is in line with the state government commitment and drive to provide good road networks across Yobe State.

“Government of Yobe State is highly dedicated to executing this project to provide succour to the long-standing transportation problems faced by the people in these area.

“It’s in realisation of the importance of the project that the state government launched a search for a reputable contractors which ended up with the selection of Maduwa Road Construction Ltd for Gashua-Masaba and Greyland Multipurpose Investment Limited for Karasuwa Galu Road projects”, said Governor Buni.

Buni further revealed that the project of Gashua-Masaba is awarded at a total sum of N4.4billion while that of karasuwa Galu is awarded at the total sum of 1.3 billion Naira with a completion period of 9 and 6 months respectively.

He called on the companies to strictly abide by the contractual terms signed with the Government of Yobe State, and also direct the state Ministry of Works to carry out adequate supervision for the government to have value for its money.
