Gunmen abduct commuters in Edo

A group of unidentified gunmen, believed to be kidnappers, have reportedly abducted by an undisclosed number of passengers along the Jesse-Oben Road, which serves as the border between Edo and Delta States. The incident occurred near Oben, a community known for its oil and gas production in Edo State.

According to eyewitness accounts, the victims were traveling from Sapele in Delta State when the armed men ambushed their vehicle. The kidnappers suddenly emerged from the bush, firing shots into the air, and forced the driver to come to a stop.

One of the passengers kidnapped was reported to be a 24-year-old daughter of a newspaper vendor. Unfortunately, the driver and conductor managed to escape while the kidnappers directed the remaining passengers into the nearby bush.

When contacted for confirmation, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, Child Nwabuzor, stated that he was unaware of the incident but assured that he will investigate the matter further.
