HMB charges clinical staff to utilise skills acquired on inventory management tools

The Chief Medical Director, Nasarawa State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Egba Edego has admonished clinical staff to participate actively in the training on inventory management tools to be able to effectively manage drugs and medical consumables collection, disbursement and utilisation for optimum service delivery and proper record keeping at the General Hospitals across the state.
Dr. Egba said the training was organised in conjunction with Nasarawa State Drug Supplies Management Agency due to burning issues that were impeding smooth running of the Agencies activities with facilities thereby affecting seamless services at both ends.

Participants for the training were heads of clinical department from all the secondary facilities and the training was held at the Southern, Northern and Western Zones. The objective of the training includes; to appreciate nas-supply as inventory management tool; acquire the requisite skills of nas-supply as an inventory management tool and to adopt nas-supply as a tool for the management of inventory state wide.
The Director of Pharmaceuticals Services of Nasarawa State Hospitals Management Board, Pharm. Joshua Gyale, was the team leader of the training supported by Director Finance and Account, Hajiya Salamatu Oseze, Director Medical Services, Dr. Amingo Kanga and Director Nursing Services, Mr. Patricia Osumanyi were all in attendance to enable them gain skills and knowledge to effectively manage the DRF program in all the secondary facilities.
The General Manager of Nasarawa State Drugs and Supplies Agency who was reprented by Pharm. Peter Elawani said the main purpose of the training is to enable facilities to take ownership of the program by enhancing their knowledge and skills for optimum performance.
He also said the training was meant to checkmate the process of the flow of medical tools, drugs and consumables i.e buying, storage and issuing of commodities to promote accountability.
On his part, the facilitator, Mr. Mohammed Adamu from IHSAN Technology took his time to give participants detailed explanation of the process of the tools, while practical sessions were held to ascertain participants understanding of the tools.
While making sure that all participants were carried along on the same page, lots of questions were asked and answers were proffered accordingly.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Amingo Kanga who stood in for the Chief Medical Director of Nasarawa State Hospitals Management Board, appreciated participants for sparing their time for the training, he applauded them for their contributions, sharing insights and feedbacks, hoping they had a valuable learning experience.
