Magical Messi scores stunning free-kick on debut for Inter Miami
Argentina international and World Cup winner, Lionel Messi, in the early hours of Saturday bagged the winning goal on his first appearance for his new club, Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer (MLS).
Inter Miami were 1-0 up against Cruz Azul and Messi was introduced in the 54th minute, the Argentine didn’t quite make much impact as the host leveled the game in the 65th minute.

The game continued and all eyes were on Messi to make the difference as the match officials added four additional minutes after the 90 minutes mark.
The decisive moment for the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star came when Miami were given a free-kick – a favourable spot a maverick like Messi wouldn’t miss.
All what was needed for Messi who was behind the ball was the sound of the whistle for the kick.
He wasted no time and magnificently with his favourite left foot blasted the round leather object in top left corner of the net in the 94th minute to give Miami the deserved 2-1 victory over Cruz Azul.
“What I saw was the goal,” Messi said in an on-field interview amid the post-game celebrations. “I saw the goal. I knew that I had to score.
“It was the last play of the game and I wanted to score so I didn’t go to penalties.”
Inter Miami head coach Tata Martino, who managed Messi at Barcelona, said: “It’s a movie that we have seen before.”
