Notorious gambler Killaboi admits to fatal stabbing of 21-year-old girlfriend
Benjamin Best, the Nigerian gambler better known as Killaboi, has confessed to the murder of his 21-year-old lover, Augusta Osedion.
In a series of Instagram posts on Monday, Killaboi revealed that he and his girlfriend had an argument, during which he “mistakenly” stabbed her to death.
He expressed deep remorse, stating that he did not intend to kill Osedion and prayed for her eternal peace.
“I can’t live with this guilt; I am going crazy. I should have left this toxic relationship, but I did not,” the posts read in part.
“I will say nothing but the truth and come out clean, hoping God grants me eternal peace.
“I’m in so much pain, I need help. I’m not a bad person, I swear. But with what has happened, I think I deserve nothing but death. I will gladly die, whether by hanging or shooting; whatever fate has for me.
“I’m willing. I can’t live with this guilt, knowing the girl I loved so much died in my own hands. Oh, God, why this? What do I do now? I deserve death, I want to die.”
Osedion had been reported missing for several days, prompting her mother, Onwabhagbe Cordelia, to visit Killaboi’s residence in Oral Estate, Ikota, Lagos state.
In a conversation with BBC Pidgin, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos police spokesperson, confirmed that the force is currently investigating Osedion’s death.
He added that the Lagos police received a report from Cordelia, who said her daughter informed her about an argument she had with her boyfriend on June 11.
Cordelia said she attempted to reconcile the couple but was unable to reach them.
She then contacted Osedion’s roommate, who led the police to Killaboi’s residence, where she saw her daughter’s lifeless body.
Hundeyin said there were signs of violence and a struggle on the victim’s body.
The police have taken Osedion’s remains to the general hospital mortuary in Yaba for autopsy and preservation.
He added that they also recovered a note left by Benjamin at the scene, which is being treated as evidence.
“The police have cordoned off the scene as preliminary investigations are underway so that we can transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Panti for a confidential investigation,” Hundeyin said.
