Police investigate horrific killing of engineer in Abuja apartment

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has launched an investigation into the brutal murder of construction engineer Humphrey Uchenna Nnaji, whose decomposing corpse was discovered in his apartment in the Dawaki area of Abuja on Saturday, July 8, 2023.

According to reports from The PUNCH, the engineer was killed by suspected assailants who gained entry into his apartment.

Unaware of the tragedy, Nnaji’s neighbours began to notice a foul odour emanating from his residence and promptly alerted the police.

A local commercial driver known as Musa shared his account, saying, “The engineer’s corpse was found in his apartment in the Dawaki area. The policemen came to evacuate his remains on Saturday around 8 pm. The body was already decomposing, indicating that the incident might have occurred before Saturday. The people in the area are still struggling to comprehend how this could have happened. As we speak, the house has been cordoned off.”

A source within the FCT Police Command revealed that while examining the crime scene, the police discovered a blood-stained sledgehammer beside Nnaji’s lifeless body, along with a written note.

The note implicated a person named Alfa as the alleged perpetrator, claiming that the killing was in retaliation for the death of Alfa’s sister. The note also accused Nnaji of involvement in fraudulent activities using young women as part of a scheme known as “Yahoo Plus.”

SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the FCT Command, confirmed the incident and stated that an ongoing investigation is underway.
